The department said generally cloudy conditions will prevail across the country, with moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning likely in parts of the Himalayan and hilly regions. Moderate rainfall is also expected in Madhesh Province and several Terai districts.
Weather conditions are currently being influenced by monsoon winds along with a partial influence of westerly winds. Meteorologists said a depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal is expected to strengthen into a deep depression and move west-northwestward in the coming days.
In Kathmandu, moderate rain with thundershowers is forecast during the day, with temperatures expected to range between 27°C and 29°C. Similar weather is likely tonight, with temperatures falling to 18–20°C.
The department has advised residents and travellers in areas likely to receive heavy rainfall to remain cautious, particularly in locations vulnerable to localised flooding, landslides and transport disruptions.
