Many places in Kailali and Kanchanpur have been inundated due to incessant rainfall for the last few days.

Shivanagar, Bishalnagar, Hasanpur and Milanchowk, among other places, of Dhangadi of Kailali have been inundated.

Locals said that Dhangadi sub-metropolis had paid no attention to the issue despite frequent request to open the affected areas.

Police said that Bhajani and Dhangadi of Kailali have been inundated. More than 1,000 families in Kailali have been displaced while details of the damage are being collected, said police. Similarly, the settlements in Mahendranagar Bazaar and its surroundings have also been inundated.

Entrepreneurs have been facing problems after Madan Chowk area of Mahendranagar got inundated.

Entrepreneurs at Mahendranagar said that the area gets inundated even after minor rainfall due to poor drainage system and unmanaged human settlements.

Yagya Raj Joshi, an entrepreneur, said that he faced problems operating his business due to inundation during monsoon. Joshi said that the authority concerned had to pay attention to the need to manage the drainage system.

Spokesperson of Bhimdatta Municipality Mahendra Khadka said that the bazaar areas had been inundated due to unwanted encroachment of the streams of late. He said that the inundation issue had appeared in Mahendranagar Bazaar also because the work of making it a modern city with the financial support of Asian Development Bank was on. "The inundation problems will be resolved after the completion of the construction work," he added.

Police said that no human casualty had been reported yet due to rain-induced disaster. Police have urged the people to take safety measures as the rain might continue for a few more days.
