A low-pressure area formed around Uttar Pradesh in India is influencing Nepal's weather as the monsoon remains active across the country, with heavy rainfall forecast in parts of four provinces on Tuesday.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division said heavy rain is likely at one or two places in the Himalayan, hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as the hilly and Terai areas of Lumbini Province.

Generally cloudy conditions are expected nationwide, with moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning likely at many places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini. Moderate rain and thunderstorms are also likely at some places in Madhesh Province and the Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki, and at a few places in the Terai of Sudurpashchim Province.

The weather office said moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is possible in some Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki, and at a few places in the Himalayan areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim.

Rain is expected to continue into Tuesday night, with heavy rainfall likely at one or two places in Madhesh and the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

The division said monsoon winds are currently influencing the entire country, with the monsoon low-pressure line slightly north of its average position. The low-pressure area over Uttar Pradesh is adding to the prevailing weather system.

In the Kathmandu Valley, moderate rain with thunderstorms is forecast, with temperatures ranging from 27–29°C during the day and 19–21°C at night. Pokhara is expected to see similar conditions, with temperatures between 29–31°C during the day and 22–24°C at night.

Among the cities listed, Simara is expected to record the highest daytime temperature at 33–35°C, followed by Biratnagar and Janakpur at 32–34°C. Dadeldhura is forecast to be the coolest, with a daytime temperature of 20–22°C.
