KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 27

Flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) remained disrupted today owing to adverse weather. According to TIA office, flights towards both domestic and international services were affected.

TIA Spokesperson Rinji Sherpa said toward domestic services, flights are operational for Janakpur, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi. Today, flights towards Bhadrapur, Simara, Bharatpur, Pokhara and Surkhet airports were cancelled.

Flights on Kathmandu-Biratnagar route have been regular since 3:00 pm today.

Towards international flights, two planes were put on hold for around an hour. They are Indigo Airlines en route to Kathmandu from New Delhi, India and Thai Air from Bangkok of Thailand. It led to some international flights to get delayed. However, the flights are now regular.

Low visibility due to the continuous rainfall affected the flights. Only flights supported by IFR (Instrument Rules) are operational.

Similarly, no mountain flights were made from TIA today.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said presently the country is under the influence of monsoon winds along with the impact of a low pressure system positioned in and around Maharashtra of India.
