KATHMANDU, JANUARY 26
The weather today remains under the influence of westerly winds, bringing varied conditions across the country.
Most regions are expected to experience mainly fair skies throughout the day, except for the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Karnali Provinces, where partly cloudy conditions are forecasted. The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has also predicted the possibility of light snowfall in one or two locations in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi Province.
Eastern parts of Madhesh Province, especially Saptari, and the Tarai region of Koshi Province, including Jhapa, Morang, and Sunsari, have been experiencing a mild cold wave over the past three days. The MFD predicts these areas will continue to experience similar conditions until the end of Sunday.
Meanwhile, the entire Tarai region across all provinces is blanketed by mist and fog on Sunday morning, causing significantly reduced visibility. Most areas in the Tarai report visibility below 1,000 meters, with Janakpur recording the lowest visibility at just 100 meters. However, the MFD anticipates that the fog and mist will clear by the afternoon.
In Kathmandu Valley, the skies are forecasted to remain partly cloudy to mainly fair during the afternoon and predominantly clear tonight. The minimum temperature on Sunday night is expected to range between 5°C and 7°C, while the maximum temperature during the day is predicted to be between 21°C and 23°C.
On Saturday, the valley recorded a minimum temperature of 7.8°C and a maximum temperature of 20.5°C.
Elsewhere in the country, Jumla recorded the lowest temperature on Sunday morning at -5°C.
While most of the country will enjoy clear skies, residents in colder regions and fog-affected areas are advised to take precautions and stay prepared for the prevailing weather conditions.
