KATHMANDU, APRIL 10

A cultural event aimed at strengthening Nepal-Australia relations and promoting mutual cooperation, culture, and tourism was held in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

The event titled 'Nepal-Australia: Cultural and Honorary Program 2025', took place at the Nepal Tourism Board and featured discussions on trade, entrepreneurship, cultural exchange, and tourism promotion between the two countries.

Speaking at the program, Minister of State for Forests and Environment Rupa BK highlighted the cordial ties between Nepal and Australia. She noted that areas such as tourism, culture, and education have significantly contributed to fostering these relations.

Ian Green 'OAM', founder of the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion in Melbourne, Australia, also addressed the gathering. He emphasized the close and deep-rooted connection between the two nations.

The Great Stupa, modeled after the Boudhanath Stupa in Lumbini, is considered one of the world's most significant Buddhist heritage sites. Located in Victoria, Australia, it serves as a center for promoting Buddhism, peace, meditation, and culture.

On the occasion, Green was honored for his contributions to cultural and religious promotion. Artists from the Nepali television serial 'Saino' were also felicitated.

Experts from both countries participated in panel discussions, exploring various aspects of tourism and cultural cooperation.
