A man was injured after an unidentified group shot at him at Mirchaiya Municipality, Siraha, yesterday.

The injured has been identified as Ram Sagar Safi, 39, of the municipality. Safi operated Siddhi Medical Hall at Main Chowk of Mirchaiya Municipality.

A group of three to four persons shot Safi last evening. He received bullets on his right hand and feet. He is been receiving treatment at Mangalam Health Care in Mirchaiya. He is out of danger.

The group attacked Safi while he was settling his finances. The incident site is about 50 metres away from Mirchaiya Area Police Office. The group attacked Safi when there was power outage in the evening, said police.

Safi said his relative might have attacked him due to a dispute over property. Safi was also attacked earlier. Following the incident, the locals are in fear.

They said that the incident was dreadful as it took place near the police office.

Meanwhile, Information Officer DSP Shaligram Sharma of Siraha District Police Office, said police were investigating the incident.

He said police had arrested three to four suspicious youths as they could have been involved in the incident. The names of the arrested are yet to be made to be made public. Security was tightened along the East-West Highway and the auxiliary roads, said police.
