KATHMANDU, JANUARY 5
The winter's grip tightens on the Kathmandu Valley, with temperatures dropping to 3.5°C at 8:45 am this morning. This is a noticeable dip from the 4.5°C recorded at the same time yesterday, as reported by the Meteorological Forecast Division (MFD). Jumla claims the title of the chilliest district nationwide, registering a bone-chilling -6.6°C.
Contrastingly, Nepalgunj holds the status as the warmest district today with a relatively mild 12.2°C at 8:45 am.
Meanwhile, the MFD foresees partly cloudy weather persisting in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, extending into the night. The rest of the country, however, is expected to enjoy fair weather.
Furthermore, the MFD anticipates light snowfall in a few spots of the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces during the day and night.
In the meantime, fog blankets certain areas of the western Tarai, mid-Tarai, and eastern Tarai region. The MFD predicts this foggy condition to gradually dissipate by the afternoon.
Bhairahawa in the Lumbini province stands out with the densest fog, offering a mere 50 meters of visibility alongside a recorded temperature of 9°C.
The country is currently under the influence of Western Wind.
