1 killed, 2 injured due to electric shock in assorted incidents

KATHMANDU: A person was killed and two other sustained serious injuries due to electric shock in two incidents in Kathmandu Valley on Thursday.

Police said Durga Bahadur Basnet (50) from Sunkhani in Sindhupalchok district died of the electric shock while painting a house at Sagarmatha Colony in Kandaghari of Kageshwori Manahara Municipality-13.

Police said Basnet, currently residing at Birendra Chok of Kandaghari, was rushed to nearby Motherland Hospital in Pepsicola for treatment, but to no avail.

In the same incident, Binod Karki (20) of Udayapur, currently residing at Harahar Mahadev in Kathmandu, also sustained serious injuries. He is receiving treatment at the same hospital.

In another similar incident, Akash Tamang (24) of Phakel in Makawanpur district was also seriously injured today.

Tamang sustained injuries while working at Nepal Dong Buddhist Academy Stupa in Pharping of Dakshinkali Municipality-10 today.

Tamang was initially taken to the Manmohan Community Hospital in Pharping, but now has been referred to the Balkhu-based Vayodha Hospital for treatment.

Police said they are looking into both the cases.
