10 arrested on robbery charges

Kathmandu, September 1 :

The Valley Crime Investigation Branch (VCIB), Hanumandhoka, has arrested 10 persons on different dates on charges of being involved in robberies in the valley.

Four persons, however, are still absconding, police said.

The VCIB said it arrested Deepak Thapamagar, 21, of Ramechhap for his role in looting valuables worth Rs 2,813,000 from the house of Manoj Adhikari at Baneshwor one week ago. Kamal Thapa of Ramechhap, who was also involved in the robbery, is absconding, police said. Police recovered diamonds, mobile phones, foreign coins, Khukuris and iron rods from Thapamagar.

“We have also arrested Saman Thapamagar of Ramechhap for his role in looting valuables worth Rs 847,400 from the house of Dawakipa Sherpa at Bansbari some weeks ago,” Keshav Adhikari, the Superintendent of Police at the VCIB, said.

According to him, Sunil Thapa, Raju Thapa and Suman Thapa of Ramechhap, who were also involved in the case, are still absconding.

The VCIB has also arrested Raj Kumar Shrestha, 20, of Kavre, Raju Shibabhakti, 18, of Kavre, Deepak KC, 22, of Dolakha, Dhiraj Sunuwar, 20, of Ramechhap, Sher Bahadur Shrestha, 20, of Sindhupalchowk, Dhan Bahadur Shrestha, 18, of Dhankuta, Bharat Lama, 18, of Makawanpur and Wikesh Silpakar, 18, of Lalitpur on the charge of looting cash worth Rs 18,000 from Hareram Yadav at Khasibazaar some days ago. According to the police, the arrested persons have admitted to their crime.
