1261 persons penalised for defying traffic rules in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: As many as 1261 persons were booked for violating traffic rules in Kathmandu Valley yesterday, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division said.

According to the MTPD, 50 persons were charged for driving under the influence of alcohol, 186 people for violating lane rules and 94 people were fined for illegal parking in the valley.

Likewise, as many as 23 persons were penalised for honking. Similarly, 23 taxi drivers were fined for overcharging their customers.

MTPD further said 862 persons were fined for other offences.

Police have intensified traffic vigilance to ease traffic congestions and minimise road accidents in the valley.

Meanwhile, police said 8573 vehicles entered the valley and 8905 vehicles left Kathmandu though various points yesterday.
