1,548 vehicles 'wheel locked' for rampant parking
KATHMANDU: In its effort to monitor rampant and negligent parking, the Traffic Police has locked wheels of 1,548 vehicles in different places of Kathmandu Valley.
The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division has come up with the campaign to manage excessive traffic congestion and discourage unauthorised parking in the federal capital.
Basanta Kumar Pant, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Traffic Division Chief, said that they came up with the action to lock wheels of vehicles being parked on the street to manage unauthorised parking.
The campaign that kicked off from November 24, 2018, has initiated action against both four-wheelers and two-wheelers.
The Division has penalised the rampantly parked vehicles in cash from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 along with wheel lock.
