2 held for swindling foreign job aspirants
KATMHANDU: Police recently arrested two persons on charge of swindling two foreign employment aspirants of Rs 1.75 million, assuring them of jobs at a Japan restaurant.
Durga Bhattachan (52) from Pakhapani-3 of Myagdi district and Laxmi GC (29) from Chauthe, Pokhara-14 of Kaski district were arrested from Sundhara of Kathmandu and Pokhara of Kaski respectively.
The duo had defrauded Deepak Paudel, a resident of Thulo Pokhari-3 of Parbat district, and Dal Bahadur Gurung from Dhikurpokhari-6 of Kaski district, of Rs 1 million and Rs 750,000 respectively, according to police.
The alleged frauds had even stamped fake Japanese visas on their passports and sent them to the Tribhuvan International Airport for the flight on Friday.
The case came into limelight after the victims were arrested after their approved visas were found suspicious.
The Metropolitan Police Crime Division said that GC at first had assured to send them to a hotel owned by Bhattachan in Japan.
He had demanded Rs 1.2 million from each of them for the job.
The MPCD handed the suspects over to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigation and action.
