20 examinees injured in clash


KATHMANDU: At least 20 examinees were injured when students attending the entrance examination in Maharajgunj campus clashed with police on the campus in the capital on Saturday.

Irate examinees vandalised the campus by pelting stones and bricks, police said.

Students resorted to vandalism over allegations of the attempt by Dr Arun Sayami, the Dean of TUTH to conduct the exam using force by mobilising security personnel in the campus premises. Students accused Dr Sayami of accepting a hefty bribe.

Campus chief Ram Prasad Upreti said that the exam should be conducted after investigating the allegation against Dean Sayami.

The police held 15 examinees on the charge of their involvement in the vandalism of the campus .

Some 2000 students were expected to attend the entrance exams for MS, MD and Post Graduate courses in four different centres including the Maharajgunj campus in the capital today.
