25 Tibetan protesters held

LALITPUR; Police detained at least 25 Tibetan protesters agitating in front of the Office of the United Nations in Pulchowk today.

According to the police, as many as 25 persons, including six women, were arrested while they were shouting slogans against China and for Tibet’s freedom around 2:00 pm.

“We released all the protesters late this evening,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa.

The refugees have sought a UN probe into crackdown in Tibet by Chinese authorities and sught UN’s role in liberating Tibet. Nepali officials have been maintaining that they stand by the announced ‘One China Policy’.
