3 arrested with musk from Jamal in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three persons in possession of musk pod-like substances from Jamal of KMC-28 on Wednesday.
The arrestees have been identified as Akshay Lama (23) of Okharpauwa, Kakani Rural Municipality-2 in Nuwakot district ; Bishnu Lama (29) and Buddhiman Tamang(31) of Sallekum-1 in Kavre.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of security personnel deployed from Metropolitan Police Range, Durbar Marg, recovered two musk pod-like substances from the possession of trio in front of the Mirchi Hotel in Jamal, according to police.
Further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
Musk is used in preparing perfume fixative and is one of the most expensive animal products in the world.
The smuggling of musk pods and grains comes under the National Park and Wildlife Act 1973 , said police.
