3 held for illegally selling cooking gas

KATHMANDU: Police on Friday arrested three persons on charge of illegally selling cooking gas, from Sanobharyang, Swayambhu of Kathmandu.

Humnatth Mainali (49) from Jorpati of Kathmandu, Umesh Raj Kharel (29) from Phalate of Kavre and Buddhilal Syangbo (40) from Hetaunda of Makawanpur were illegally distributing filled gas cylinders to various traders, police said.

The security personnel explained that Maintali and Kharel, two staff of Subidha Gas Industry, in cahoots with the gas-supplying truck (Ko 1 Ka 1543) driver Syangbo sold the fuel from the Jaya Kalika Wood Industry in Swayambhu, KMC-5.

The Nepal Oil Corporation had sent the gas cylinders for Dhapasai area.

A team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Swayambhu, also seized 171 filled cylinders and three empty cylinders from them.

The truck has been impounded for further investigation.
