3 Liberians held for cheating

Kathmandu, December 18:

A police team from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD), Hanumandhoka, arrested three Liberians on different dates on the charge of cheating people.

Royel Myakency Denish, 27, was arrested from the Annapurna Hotel at Durbarmarg a week ago, while Augustined De Gilpli, 36, and Frankietley Tailey, 27, were arrested from Thamel four days ago, police said today.

“The three swindled over Rs 6 lakh from over 10 Nepalis,” Keshav Adhikari, the Superintendent of Police at the MPCD, said, adding that the police arrested them based on a complaint lodged by the victims at the police office. The police also seized several fake documents from the trio.

Meanwhile, another police team from the MPCD arrested two persons yesterday on the suspicion of involvement in a series of thefts in the valley.

Rajukumar Shrestha, 20, of Dolakha and Binod Shrestha, 29, of Makawanpur were arrested on the charge of looting houses owned by Rabi Prasad Kasaju at Lainchaur, Ratna Lal Agrawal at Maitidevi, Pranita Sapkota at Tinkune, and Draupadi Tuladhar at Pakanajol on different dates. The police seized a motorcycle, gold jewellery and Rs 78,905.
