300-yr-old Chandra Binayak Jatra underway
KATHMANDU: The 300 years old Chandra Binayak Jatra began here on Wednesday.
The festival in Chabahil region is observed for three days from Katik Shukla Poornima. Paying obeisance to lords Bhairav and Ganesh during the fair is believed to help rid one of skin diseases. It draws a large number of people from around the city every year.
The Jatra began on Wednesday with the formal pooja of Ganesh and Bhairav. The second day today will be marked with the chariot being taken to the door steps of the local for pooja. The festival will end following a sindoor jatra in the Chabahil area tomorrow.
