KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 5

A total of 3,045 people have been arrested in the past six months for offenses related to narcotic drugs, according to the Nepali Police Central News Room.

Among them, 3,450 drug users, peddlers, and individuals involved in drug-related crimes were arrested in the first six months of the current financial year.

The arrests include 2,758 men and 144 women Nepali nationals, as well as 133 men and 10 women foreign nationals. Cases have been filed against 1,960 of them so far. They have been found involved in smuggling, trading, and transporting banned narcotics such as marijuana, hashish, heroin, opium, and cocaine. A significant amount of the banned narcotics was seized during the arrest of the accused, the police stated.

Meanwhile, today, three people were arrested with 285 kgs of marijuana from the IT Park road of Panauti municipality-5. According to the police, Buddhaman Tamang of Bidur Municipality-11, Nuwakot, Sanjit Tamang, 20, of Ramechhap Municipality-8, and 53-year-old Bimala Tamang were arrested.

Also today, police arrested two people from Nagadhunga in Chandragiri Municipality-2 with 76 grams of heroin.
