364 alleged criminals eluding arrest in Valley

The police have failed to arrest 364 persons charged with different crimes that took place in the Valley during the past five years, according to the legal section of the Kathmandu District Police Office.
“A total of 364 persons are still managing to elude the police,” said Brikh Bahadur Rawal, inspector at the legal section.
Among them, 243 persons are accused of crimes that took place this year while the remaining are accused of crimes that took place in the previous years.
According to the police, 166 persons charged with cheating, 96 charged with theft, 24 charged with murder, 35 charged with attempt to murder, 30 charged with looting, 12 charged with robbery and the rest charged with public offences are still managing to elude the police.
“It doesn’t however mean that the police are unable to finalise investigations into the cases involving these absconders. Their accomplices or friends have already been arrested and cases have been filed against them at respective courts,” DSP Ganesh KC said.
