4 Thai women held with cache of foreign currencies from TIA

KATHMANDU: Police on Friday arrested four Thai women in illegal possession of a huge cache of foreign currencies from the Tribhuvan International Airport of Kathmandu.

A Buddhist nun and three of her disciples were about to board a Thai Air flight for Bangkok while police busted them at around 12:15 pm today, Chief of the TIA Police, DIG Pankaj Shrestha, told THT Online.

Shrestha informed that police seized USD 286,162, IRsĀ 273,180 and Thai baht 46,800 from their possession.

They had hidden the cash in a suitcase and police had seized it during a security examination.

Further investigation is underway, according to Shrestha.
