Chief Election Commissioner to give polls a miss
RAJBIRAJ: Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has said that he would not be able to cast his ballot in the provincial and parliamentary elections due to poll preparations meeting in Election Commission till late hours of Wednesday.
Talking to journalists in Saptari over the phone, CEC Yadav stated, “The meeting for issues concerning polls will continue till late hours on Wednesday and the flights will be closed on Thursday due to the elections. Hence, I will not be able to exercise my franchise this time.”
“Well, flying to Saptari using a helicopter could be an option but that has been ruled out since it is expensive,” he added.
The Chief Election Commissioner also urged the general public to cast their vote in a free and fear-free manner as the looming security concerns have been taken care of.
As many as 155,000 Election Commission employees have been mobilised in 45 districts for the provincial and parliamentary election tomorrow.
The voters would choose 128 members to the House of Representatives and 256 members to the State Assemblies.
