4,848 civil servants fail to submit property details

KATHMANDU: The Department of Civil Personnel Records (DCPR) has revealed that as many as 4,848 civil servants failed to submit their property details in the current fiscal year.

There are a total of 82,421 civil servants across the nation, informed DCPR Director Rajendra Prasad Parajuli.

It is legally mandatory to submit details of property owned by individuals holding the public posts.

Informing that Prevention of Corruption Act 2002 had incorporated a provision demanding the property details of the government employees within 60 days of the beginning of the new fiscal year, Parajuli further added that the name list of those civil employees not abiding by the Act would be sent to the National Vigilance Center for further action.

A civil servant failing to submit the property details on time would be fined Rs 5,000 by Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.

September 13 was the last date to submit the property details this year.
