5 injured in post-aftershock panic rush in Lalitpur

KATHMANDU: At least five persons were reported injured in the panic rush after a magnitude-4.5 aftershock hit the Capital on Saturday evening.

SP Ashok Singh of the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, told THT Online that they were injured in various places of the district including Patandhoka, Mangalbazaar and Khokana.

He added that Bekharam Dangol (35) from Khokana, close to Bhainsepati, broke his leg and is undergoing treatment at Jawalakhel-based Alka Hospital.

Likewise, 40-year-old Samit Baidya and 24-year-old Bikesh Shakya fractured their legs in Mangal Bazaar. Both were rushed to the Patan Hospital.

The 27-year-old Ratna Devi Shakya jumped off a house roof and sustained an injury on her leg in Patandhoka. She is admitted at the B&B Hospital in Gwarko. The same health facility is treating Sangita Baidya (40) from Mangal Bazaar who had fractured her leg.

The National Seismological Centre had recorded the aftershock, the 447th of magnitude 4 or above since last year's magnitude-7.6 quake, at 7:05 this evening with the epicentre in Bhainsepati of Lalitpur.
