7 held for forcing man on deathbed to sign on land ownership documents
KATHMANDU: Police said they arrested seven persons on charge of forcing a man on the deathbed to transfer his land ownership to his children, on Friday.
The suspects were preparing to force the 63-year-old Mangal Narayan Gwachha, a permanent resident of Machhegaun, Kirtipur, to sign on a document, as an agreement to transfer his land to his four daughters and a son, according to police.
The unconscious man was undergoing treatment at the Sinamangal-based Kathmandu Medical College and the arrestees had gone to the hospital bed asking him to sign the documents.
The arrestees are Gwachha’s unmarried daughter Sabina, Arjun Sainju (47) from Bhaktapur, Rajendra Kumar Dahal (40), his sons-in-law Ratna Prasad Chhuchyachhi (42) and Ramesh Pancha (40), Bhaktapur Land Revenue Office’s Nayab Subba Naresh Lohar (34) and Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Nayab Subba Shambhu Narayan Rajbhandari (45).
Meanwhile, Gwachha died during treatment at the Hospital.
Police are looking into the case.
