8 held for two murders

Kathmandu, February 13:

A police team from Bouddha Ward Police Office today arrested five persons on charge of murdering Rajkumar Sunar (18) of Sindhupalchowk at Narayantar of Kathmandu.

According to Pratap Gurung, inspector at the ward police office, those arrested are kingpin Suman Rai (19) of Udaypur, Prakash Basnet (18) of Ramechhap, Tek Bahadur Lama (22) of Ramechhap and Rakesh Lama and Sitaram Khadka of Sindhupalchowk.

Sunar was a helper at an automobile workshop in Narayantar. All the arrested are temporary helpers of vehicles. Police said the group beat up Sunar to death when Sunar asked Basnet for Rs 2,800 which he owed to Sunar. They attacked Sunar with khukuris and threw his body on the banks of Bagmati. The five were arrested from Dakshin-dhoka, Naya Bazaar and Narayantar in the afternoon. “They have admitted to their crime,” Gurung said.

Meanwhile, police yesterday arrested Ridesh Gurung (26), Khagendra Limbu (25) and Nim Bahadur Magar (27) on charge of killing Ganga Kumar Rai (18) of Bhojpur a few days ago.
