A TV show on interior designing

Interior decoration is all set to receive a boost in Nepal with a television show aimed at creating a positive outlook towards the art of interior designing.

Interior Journey, a weekly programme on interior decoration is being aired on Nepal Television. The first episode of the show, produced by Himalayan Media Production, was telecast last week. The programme delves into diverse spheres like homes, offices, colleges, hotels and restaurants.

“This is the first time a programme exclusively devoted to interior designing is being produced and telecast in Nepal,” said Navin Joshi, presenter of the show, during a press conference here on Monday.

The media production house aims to produce and telecast programmes that reflect different aspects of the society in the electronic media.

Outlining the objective of the programme Joshi said, “We aim to increase awareness on traditional as well as modern mode of interior designing.” In rapidly changing times, interior designing is becoming more important. The show by encouraging the use of traditional handicrafts in interior decoration, will also serve a social purpose, Joshi added.

Expressing optimism over the anticipated response, Joshi said, “Our target audience includes all those who are interested in this sector especially architects, designers and producers of decoration related material.” Commenting on the perception that interior designing is privilege of the upper class, he added, “This is a myth. People with limited means can also use the expertise which will help them use space better.”

The show will also include a section of counselling by an interior designer on the varying dimensions of interior designing. It is to be telecast every Tuesday at 10.15 pm.
