Absconding forgery convicts held

KATHMANDU: Police said they recently arrested two absconding government seal and signature forgery convicts.

Gautam Man Shrestha (42) from Swayambhu, KMC-15 and Akhlakhur Rahman aka Akela Miya (30) from Jathara-2 of Rautahat district were nabbed from Kalanki and Swayambhu of Kathmandu on Sunday and Monday respectively.

A police team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police had nabbed them.

The Kathmandu District Court on May 24 last year had convicted the duo of government seal and signature forgery.

Meanwhile, police produced them before the Kathmandu District Court for execution of the verdict on Monday. The Court sent them to the Central Jail in Jagannath Dewal.

The Court in May last year had observed that the duo had produced fake land registration certificate to swindle a family of Rs 3.025 million.

The Court had slapped a fine of the same amount on each of the duo. In addition, Shrestha was sent to the jail for two years and Rahman for three years.
