Absconding fraud convict held
KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police on Thursday arrested a man, who was absconding after being convicted of a foreign employment fraud case around 16 months ago.
Himal Malla (37) from Tribhuvan VDC-1 of Kanchanpur district was absconding after the Foreign Employment Tribunal convicted him in the fraud on May 6, 2014.
Police said Malla had swindled Raju Bhai KC of Rs 350,000 and Kumar Silwal of Rs 320,000 assuring them of sending them to Japan for foreign employment, around four years ago.
Police investigations, however, had found that he was running the business without getting any licence.
The Tribunal had slapped him with one-year-and-six-month jail term and Rs 150,000 fine. Malla had been also urged to compensate the victims.
Malla was arrested from Putalisadak of the Capital.
Meanwhile, the CIB produced Malla at the Kathmandu District Court for execution of the sentence.
