Accord certificate to Chaudhary else we will stir another agitation: RJP vice chair Lal

KATHMANDU: Vice President of Rashtriya Janata Party-Nepal Brijesh Chandra Lal has said that an agitation is impending if the Election Commission doesn’t immediately issue the official certificate of victory to Resham Lal Chaudhary, RJP Federal Parliament member elect from Kailali-1.

At a programme organised by RJP-N Kailali in Kathmandu today, the RJP vice-chair remarked that the Election Commission has been unjust to Chaudhary by withholding his victory certificate. "The EC must issue the certificate to Chaudhary immediately via an agent in his absence," Lal said.

Also present at the event was Chaudhary's wife Ranjita who said that the police had mistreated the Tharu community voters even at the polling booths. "I urge for an unbiased investigation of the Tikapur incident which was very unfortunte and the Tharu community has expressed sorrows over which," said Ranjita Chaudhary.

Stating that the security forces have not let go of their bias over the Tharu community, Ranjita said that they've faced their biased attitude even during the campaign and after the elections where the party has not yet been able to organise a victory rally.

RJP vice chair Brijesh Chandra Lal said that a probe commission has already submitted its report after investigating the incident and that the government should duly make the report public at the earliest, thus uncovering any misunderstanding over the matter.

Resham Chaudhary is the alleged prime conspirator of Tikapur carnage, in which seven police personnel including a Senior Superintendent and a toddler were lynched by the mob. He has been elected as a member of the Parliamentary Assembly from Kailali Constituency No. 1.
