Act to relieve war-hit not needed: PM
Kathmandu, June 10:
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala told the Supreme Court (SC) today that there was no need to promulgate a specific Act to pave the way for the rehabilitation of conflict victims.
In his written affidavit to the SC, the PM, however, said the government is working to form a Truth Commission and a Commission for Reconstruction of the State as per the peace agreement. “Formation of these commissions is underway,” he said. “Since the government promulgated a policy on displaced last year, there is no need to promulgate an Act. Problems facing the conflict victims will be resolved once the policy is implemented.”
