Action against rights violators sought

Lalitpur, June 26 :

The Tamang National Liberation Front (TNLF) today demanded strong action against the culprits in the Nagarkot and Dorambha massacres, claiming gross violation of human rights there.

“The central committee meeting of the front has decided to establish a Tamang Republican Front from central to district level in order to organise people for the constituent assembly apart from expanding the front and strengthening its public face,” said Surya Man Tamang, president of TNLF, while addressing a press conference here today.

The indigenous Tamang front affiliated to the CPN-Maoist has also decided to train tens of thousands of Tamang militia to safeguard Tamang autonomy.

The front has also demanded to know the whereabouts of their missing comrades aside from asking the government to help in the release of its former president Hit Bahadur Tamang who is at present in an Indian prison.

Tamang said that three central committee members have been expelled because they had breached the party line while Man Bahadur Tamang and Pasang Tamang have been shifted to the central committee from the western bureau. Sunita Tamang and Usha Tamang have been shunted from the eastern command, and Pema Tamang from the eastern special bureau.

He added that the second national conference of the front would be held after five months.

The front said it will observe August 16 as Baburam Memorial Day in memory of Baburam Tamang who was killed in Dorambha.
