Adhikari, Dahal launch book on cooperatives

Kathmandu, January 16:

Deputy Prime Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari and Minister for Agriculture and Co-operatives Homnath Dahal today launched a book Sahakari: Siddhanta and Prayog (Co-operative: Theory and Practice) penned by CPN-UML leader Keshav Badal. Adhikari said the cooperative movement plays a vital role in the country’s economic development, and is entirely related to grass-roots democracy.

He added the government has allocated adequate budget to expedite “cooperative in each village and employment to each household.” Dahal said the government is considering establishing a Cooperative Academy to spread the concept of cooperatives. Cooperative experts Sitaram Upreti and National Planning Commission member Hari Krishna Upadhyaya, said it was essential to understand the importance of cooperatives for enhancing living conditions.
