BHAKTAPUR: Prof Dr Nowaru Iwamura died at the age of 78 in Japan on Sunday, a press release issued by Dr Iwamura Memorial Hospital and Research Centre said on Monday. Nicknamed the ‘barefoot doctor’, Dr Iwamura served as a health volunteer during his long stay in Nepal. A hospital has also been established in his name at Bhaktapur. Dr Iwamura was among the first three Japanese to visit Nepal.
