‘Declare Nepal a secular state’
Kathmandu, May 8 :
The Indigenous Nationalities Joint Struggle Committee (INJSC) has demanded that the government come up with clear programme to restructure the state and also express commitment to implement it.
This was expressed at a programme organised to release a concept paper on Issues of Indigenous nationalities in Loktantra today. INJSC is an alliance of indigenous nationalities leaders who work for the seven-party alliance.
“None of the political forces has ever raised the issue of secular state, which is a major demand of the indigenous people,” said Nabin Chitrakar of INJSC, adding Nepal should be declared a secular state at the earliest. “All the indigenous nationalities should come up with a joint programme to ensure their demands are addressed properly,” the concept paper states.
