‘Most wanted’ Shukre in police net
Kathmandu, December 8:
Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu arrested Shukre Tamang alias Suresh Tamang from Dhapasi area yesterday evening.
Involved in several criminal activities including extortion, terrorising people and abduction, Tamang was listed in the ‘most wanted’ criminal list of the police file.
Tamang, who was imprisoned for the murder of Mahendra Khadka, had managed to
flee while he was taken to an eye hospital at Tripureshwor on April 8.
Tamang, along with Milan Gurung of Anamnagar, Pankaj Shah of Baneshwor, Kamal Thapa of Milanchowk, Amrit Lama of Maitidevi and Rabin Basnet of Gaushala had murdered Khadka, a resident of Kavre’s Panauti, using khukuri and rods on August 25, 2006 at Galaxy discotheque.
Tamang was arrested along with Sanjay Islami Magar alias Bhagawan, 24, of Khaniyapani-7 of Ramechhap with a pistol and bullets.
According to the police record, Tamang also murdered 21-year-old Khajanti Raya Yadav, a resident of Rautahat’s Pipariya Village Development Committee, at Bohora Gaon of Dolakha’s Gairimudi VDC on January 24, 1998.
Police said Magar had helped Tamang run away from the police control.
