Agreement to benefit farmers

Kathmandu, January 24:

A general agreement was reached between the Social Welfare Council and the International Development Enterprises today for a period of five years.

The agreement signed by Member Secretary of the Council Sharad Sharma and Robert H Nans on behalf of donor agencies is aimed at rising income level of small farmers through agriculture development programmes.

According to provisions of the agreement, the concerned donor agency is to provide a minimum of $ 50,000 annually and requires an agreement on projects to be reached within three months of the general agreement.

The terms and conditions of the International Development Enterprises stipulate that six month progress report should be submitted to the donor organisation in the framework of the Social Welfare Council as well as annual financial report should be submitted.
