AIDS campaigners demand additional fund from China
Kathmandu, June 30
HIV campaigners today submitted a memorandum to the Embassy of China in Kathmandu demanding additional fund to fight AIDS, tubercuosis and Malaria worldwide.
Representatives of the Federation of National HIV/AIDS, AIDS Health Care Foundation and different other organisations jointly submitted the memorandum to the Chinese embassy.
National HIV/AIDS Federation Chairman Achyut Sitaula said the embassy was positive regarding their demand.
In the memo, the Embassy of China has been requested to increase the assistance amount as per its commitment to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and Malaria for the period 2017 to 2019.
On the occasion, national programme coordinator of AIDS Health Care FoundationNepal, Dipak Dhungel, said people had high expectations from China in the health care sector as it was the second largest economy in the world.
As per the memorandum, China is asked to provide one billion USD to the Global Fund.
