Ailing GPK moves in with Sujata
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress president, Girija Prasad Koirala, 87, who has been suffering from ill health for the past few months following respiratory ailments was shifted to his daughter Sujata Koirala’s residence at Mandikhatar on Friday. President Koirala has been residing in Maharajgunj for the past two years.
A Koirala family source said that the NC president was shifted to Sujata's residence citing a lack of space in his Maharajgunj residence.
The source added that the former prime minister was shifted to his daughter’s residence as per his wish to stay with his daughter since his health has worsened recently.
Koirala’s daughter Sujata, who is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs was on a tour to Europe, which she consequently cut short and returned to Kathmandu on Thursday after her father’s health deteriorated.
Koirala has been undergoing treatment with oxygen round the clock for some days. Provision for a special room and security have been made for the NC president in Sujata’s house, the family source said.
Koirala was shifted to Mandikhatar on account of the noise pollution around his residence in Maharajgunj, NC acting president, Shushil Koirala said.
