US concerned over Nepal political stability
KATHMANDU: US Ambassador to Nepal Alaina B Teplitz called on CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal at the party's central office in Dhumbarahi of Capital on Monday, expressing her concerns over political stability here.
Ambassador Teplitz lauded the achievements after the promulgation of new Constitution in NepalĀ and hoped that all the political parties would come to an agreement to achieve political stability in the country, the party's Central Publicity Department informed in a statement today.
In response, Nepal said that the parties had been unable to forge consensus on some issues of the Constitution as some points of the discontent were not reasonable.
In the meeting, the two leaders discussed issues relating to mutual benefits and the US support to social, economic and infrastructure development of Nepal.
The former prime minister, who also heads the Foreign Affairs Department of the party, had thanked the Ambassador for the support and expressed his hope to garner similar support in the future, according to the statement.
