Alcoholic man, admitted to rehab centre, dies 'after vomiting'

KATHMANDU: A person, who was rushed to hospital from a rehab centre in Lalitpur after a bout of vomiting, died on Saturday, police said.

Thirty-four-year-old Padam Paudel, a resident fromĀ  Koteshwar of Kathmandu, had been admitted to the Taukhel-based Jivan Saili Drug & Alcohol Treatment & Rehabilitation Centre on April 1 to treat severe alcoholism.

He started losing consciousness after a bout of vomiting, Rabindra Sijapati of Jivan Saili said. "Out staff took him to the Nobel Hospital on a taxi. Nobel Hospital referred him to Patan Hospital," he added.

On the way to Patan Hospital, he reportedly vomited once again. He, however, was pronounced dead upon arrival by doctors at Patan Hospital.

Police said they are looking into the case.
