Alleged fraudster arrested from TIA
Kathmandu, January 5
Police today arrested an alleged fraudster from the Tribhuvan International Airport, while he was apparently trying to flee the country.
According to the Metropolitan Police Crime Division, it in association with the TIA police arrested Bijay Raj Khadka (24) of Sani Arjun Municipality-5, Jhapa.
He had defrauded six persons of Rs 6,50,00 each, promising them employment on cruise ship in Singapore.
Khadka, who is the general manager of Gwarko-based Nelko International Manpower, had collected the amount from unemployed youth, including Sagar Nepali, Narendra Shrestha, Prakash Amgain, Kailash Kumar Pakhrin and Kumar Shrestha of Chandragiri Municipality, Kathmandu promising them jobs on cruise ship.
After he failed to keep his promise, they sought the help of MPCD to initiate legal action against the alleged fraud. Khadka has been referred to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigation.
In a separate operation, the Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju foiled a bid to traffic four girls to India for engaging them in the worst form of labour and sex trade.
Police have arrested Dhanu Gurung of Nuwakot, and Prem Kumar Tamang and Raju Tamang of Kathmandu. The victims were promised lucrative jobs abroad.
The MPC informed that the suspects were held from Dhungeadda, Chandragiri Municipality earlier this week.
They have been charged under the Human Trafficking and Transportation (Control) Act, 2007.
