ANNFSU protests continue

The All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) today organised a sit-in-protest in front of the Singha Durbar for an hour. Owing to protests, traffic in the area was disrupted
for an hour.
The students are on protest since the past two weeks demanding an end of all sort of chaos in the education sector and fulfillment of key vacant post in four universities.
The four universities namely Tribhuvan University, Purbanchal University, Pokhara University and Nepal Sanskrit University had been without vice chancellors since last eight months.
Thakur Gaire, president of the ANNFSU said that we are hopeful that the government will fulfill our demands before we announce third phase of protest programmes. “The next phase of protest programmes will be general strike in educational sector and the government will be responsible for it,” said Gaire.
The students chanted slogans that education sector should be made free from politics. The students demanded that the Prime Minister should not delay in appointing vice chancellors in the universities.
The students had announced to submit a memorandum to MPs tomorrow about the student protest to put pressure on the government about the immediate appointment of VCs in four universities.
The students would also submit a memorandum to the House of Representatives on January 2.
