ANNISU-R activists on relay hunger strike

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary today staged relay hunger strikes in most of the campuses affiliated with the Tribhuvan University that runs Proficiency Certificate Level programme.

Lekhnath Neupane, president of the ANNISU-R, today said, “We started the relay hunger strike to pressure the university to withdraw its decision to phase-out the PCL starting this year. We will stage hunger strikes in Saraswoti Campus and the remaining colleges tomorrow,” he added.

“Respective college committees of the ANNISU-R are managing the number of students participating in the relay hunger strike in front of their college,” he said, adding that the students would stage the hunger strike for 8-12 hours daily till Saturday. He said the university had declined to withdraw its decision to phase out the PCL despite the plea of the 13 students’ unions to stop the phasing-out programme.

The student body will stage fast-unto-death from Sunday.
