ANNISU-R leaders attacked

Kathmandu, August 14:

Two leaders of Maoist-affiliated All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union-Revolutionary were attacked with rods and swords today.

Joint secretary of the ANNISU-R’s Pashupati Multiple Campus (PMC) unit Raj Kumar Limbu and secretary of Limbu Students’ Society (LSS) Bikram Limbu were injured in the attack.

The two ANNISU-R are undergoing treatment at Om Hospital.

Quoting doctors attending to the two, president of ANNISU-R Pashupati Multiple Campus Khagendra Parajuli said, “Condition of Raj Kumar, who sustained head injuries in the attack, is critical.”

Bikram Limbu has also sustained serious injury in his head and has more than five stitches.

According to ANNISU-R’s Parajuli, an altercation ensued after a student tore an LSS notice pasted on the campus wall this morning.

The altercation between the two student unions was resolved amicably, Parajuli further said.

However, the two were attacked at 4 pm while they were helping students fill examination forms.

“Two PMC students and two outsiders suddenly attacked the duo with rods and swords,” Parajuli said. “We suspect Youth Force’s involvement in the attack,” he said. Parajuli said the PMC unit president of UML-affiliated ANNFSU Jivan Rai had denied their involvement in the attack. He said they have lodged a complaint against the attackers at a police

station.
