Minister of State for Health and Population, Sashi Shrestha, has said the date for the Constituent Assembly election should be fixed and announced immediately. Speaking at a programme organised to exchange greetings on the occasion of Nepal Sambat New Year 1128 and the Deepawali festival in Layaku Thimi today, she said there should not be any delays in announcing a new date for the election.

The greetings exchange programme was organised by the People’s Front Nepal, Madhyapur Thimi Town Committee. Shrestha said the proposals related to the proclamation of a republic and adoption of a fully-proportional election system passed by the parliament recently should be implemented immediately.

She said although the demand of the CPN-Maoist was justified, the party could not present its demands on time. She added that the Maoists were facing problem regarding the demands as they could not take a stance on time.

She said the only agenda of the nation at present is the Constituent Assembly election and all parties should work to hold the election.
