Another APF chief faces graft case at Special Court
KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Monday filed a corruption case at the Special Court against former Armed Police Force chief, Sanat Kumar Basnet.
Basnet is the fourth former APF chief to face such a charge for his alleged involvement in embezzlement of millions of rupees from the stater coffers during his office.
Like three other former APF bosses, Basnet is also accused to misappropriating funds from the state coffers by producing fake bills and other documents while or without supplying consignments to various APF units across the nation.
Basnet was chief of the APF from April-May 2009 to July-August 2011.
The Commission has sought to recover Rs 91.58 million from Basnet and six other officials indicted along with him.
The anti-corruption constitutional body today filed the case against Basnet; APF Inspectors Bin Bahadur Thapa, Manuhira Mahat and Shiva Bahadur Adhikari; and Sub-Inspectors Devendra Kumar Shrestha, Nil Bahadur Shrestha and Lekh Bahadur Khatri.
Earlier, the Commission had indicted the suspended APF IG Kosh Raj Onta and former IGs Shailendra Kumar Shrestha and Basudev Oli among others on the same charge.
