Anti-trafficking Day on April 7

Kathmandu, March 31:

Maiti Nepal, in coordination with other organisations, will celebrate the Anti-trafficking Day in 40 districts on April 7 and organise different programmes, including rallies,

street dramas and corner meetings, between April 1 and 7 to generate awareness among the people and pressure policy makers to check trafficking, a press release issued here today said.

Campaigning against trafficking, the organisation has been launching a signature drive since March 26. The campaign will end on April 4. A memorandum and signatures will be submitted to the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare on April 7, the statement adds.

The day is being marked keeping in mind the rise in human trafficking across South Asia, especially from Nepal and Bangladesh. Trafficking has become a grave issue in the past few years due to the spread of HIV/AIDS, the statement adds.
