Appointment of Tuladhar in PCN a matter of pride: WWJ

Kathmandu, May 5

Working women journalists today said appointment of Subhechha Bindu Tuladhar, president of Working Women Journalists, as an executive board member of Press Council Nepal was a great achievement for women journalists.

During a programme today, WWJ felicitated Tuladhar and wished her a successful tenure.

Tuladhar said her appointment as executive board member of the PCN was a matter of pride for all women journalists. She also expressed commitment to promoting press freedom.

A few months ago, Tuladhar was appointed as a member of the committee to prepare media policy.

Sangita Lama, former president of WWJ, and former member of PCN, shared her experience saying it was difficult to work in the PCN due to internal politics within the organisation.

Amika Rajthala, vice president, WWJ, said they would gradually increase women’s participation in the decision-making level.

Ramkala Khadka, general secretary, WWJ, said many women journalists were not happy with the appointment of Tuladhar. “Leg pulling culture in our society is very dangerous.

A woman should appreciate the progress of another woman,” she said.
